Text Message Terms
Effective 26 August 2026 · neilbuilds.dev
These terms cover text messages between you and Neil Le. They are worth ninety seconds of your time before you text me, and they are deliberately written to be read rather than skimmed past.
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help. Reply STOP to opt out at any time. Consent is not a condition of any purchase, service, interview or consideration for a role.
What the program is
This is a conversational and appointment-notification program for one person’s working life. It is not a marketing list, and there is no list — each conversation is with an individual who contacted me. You may receive:
- Replies to your questions about my availability, experience or a role you are hiring for.
- Confirmations when you book an introductory call — the date, the time, and a note that the calendar invitation is on its way.
- Reminders before a call we have scheduled, typically one the day before.
You will never receive advertising, promotions, offers, or messages about anyone or anything other than the conversation you started.
Example messages
| Reply | Neil Le: Thanks for reaching out about the Senior Engineer role. Happy to answer questions — want to book a 30-minute intro call? Reply STOP to opt out. |
| Confirmation | Neil Le: Your intro call is confirmed for Thu Aug 28 at 2:00 PM ET. A calendar invite is on its way to your email. Reply STOP to opt out. |
| Reminder | Neil Le: Reminder — your call with Neil is tomorrow, Thu Aug 28 at 2:00 PM ET. Reply STOP to opt out. |
How you opt in
There are exactly two ways, and both require you to act first. I never add a number I was not given directly, and I do not buy, rent or import numbers from anyone.
- You text me first. My number appears on my resume, on this site and in my email signature, alongside the disclosure at the top of this page. If you text it, that message is your consent to be replied to, and my first reply will confirm it and tell you how to stop.
- You give me your number on the contact form. At neilbuilds.dev/contact there is a checkbox — unticked until you tick it — carrying the same disclosure. Nothing is sent to you unless you tick it.
Message frequency
Frequency varies with the conversation. In practice most people exchange a handful of messages over a few days and then get one confirmation and one reminder for a call. There is no recurring schedule, no drip sequence, and no minimum — if we have nothing to discuss, you hear nothing.
Cost
Message and data rates may apply. I do not charge anything for these messages, but your mobile carrier may charge you for sending or receiving them according to your plan. Check with your carrier if you are unsure.
How to stop
Reply STOP to any message. You may also send STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END or QUIT.
You will get one final message confirming you have been unsubscribed, and then nothing further. It takes effect immediately, needs no explanation, and has no bearing on anything else — you can still email me, and it does not affect any role or conversation in progress. If you change your mind, reply START.
How to get help
Reply HELP or INFO to any message and you will get a reply telling you how to reach me. You can also email contact@neilbuilds.dev at any time, including to ask me to stop texting you.
Carriers and delivery
Supported on major US carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Message delivery is subject to your carrier’s network and to filtering outside my control, so please do not rely on a text for anything time-critical — if a call time matters, the calendar invitation in your email is the authoritative record.
Your privacy
Mobile opt-in data and phone numbers will never be shared with or sold to third parties for marketing or promotional purposes. Your number is used to talk to you and for nothing else. The full privacy policy sets out what is collected, who processes it, and how long it is kept.
Changes
If these terms change, the effective date at the top changes with them, and anyone actively subscribed will be told before material changes take effect.
