Privacy Policy

This site belongs to Neil Le, an individual software engineer in Virginia Beach, Virginia. It exists so that recruiters, hiring managers and prospective clients can find out about my work and get in touch. This policy explains exactly what I collect when you do, and what I do with it.
It is short because the site is small. There is no advertising here, no tracking pixels, no analytics scripts, and no third-party embeds.
The commitment that matters most
Mobile opt-in data and phone numbers will never be shared with or sold to third parties for marketing or promotional purposes. Your consent to receive text messages is used only to send you the messages you asked for, and it goes nowhere else — not to affiliates, not to partners, not to anyone.
What I collect

I do not collect anything else. There is no account to create, no newsletter, no cookies set by this site for tracking, and no data purchased, rented or imported from any third party.
Who else sees it
Only the service providers that make the thing you asked for actually work, and only the minimum they need:
- Telnyx — carries text messages and calls. They necessarily handle your phone number and message content in order to deliver them.
- Microsoft — hosts the contact@neilbuilds.dev mailbox and my calendar, so email and meeting invitations pass through it.
- The site host — serves these pages and keeps the request logs described above.
These are processors acting on my instructions to deliver something you requested. None of them receive your information for their own marketing, and none of them are permitted to sell it. Beyond that, I share personal information only where I am legally required to.
I do not sell personal information, and I do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
How long it is kept
- Enquiries and conversations — for up to two years after we last speak, then deleted. A hiring conversation can restart a year later and the context is genuinely useful; beyond that it is just an old record.
- Consent records — for four years after you opt out, because the point of a consent record is to be able to produce it if a complaint is filed.
- Opt-out records — kept indefinitely. If you tell me to stop texting you, I have to remember that permanently in order to honour it.
- Server logs — per the host’s standard retention, typically a matter of weeks.
Your choices
- Stop the texts — reply STOP to any message. It takes effect immediately and needs no explanation.
- See what I hold, correct it, or have it deleted — email contact@neilbuilds.dev and I will action it within 30 days. There is no cost and I will not ask why.
Depending on where you live you may have additional rights — to know, to delete, to correct, to portability, and not to be discriminated against for exercising them. I extend all of the above to everyone who asks, regardless of where they are, because keeping two standards would be more work than keeping one.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Access to the mailbox and message records is protected by multi-factor authentication, and the automated systems that read the mailbox are scoped to that single mailbox and nothing else. No system is perfect, and I will not claim otherwise; if something is ever compromised in a way that affects you, I will tell you.
Children
This site is aimed at hiring professionals. It is not directed at children under 13 and I do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes, the effective date at the top changes with it. Material changes affecting how your information is used will be sent to anyone actively subscribed to text messages before they take effect.
